GREENVILLE – Clarence E. Fielder, 74, died May 31, 2005, at C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville. He was born March 12, 1931, in Franklin County, Va., the son of Eli and Sallie (Ferguson) Fielder. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. After the service he lived in Delaware, moving to Greenville 20 years ago, where he worked as a house painter for many years. He was predeceased by his companion of more than 30 years, Goldie Turner. Clarence is survived by five children, Michael Fielder, Gloria Jean Love, Gregory Fielder, Roger Fielder, and David Fielder, all of North Carolina; his mother; two sisters, Louise Poegl and Susie Barton, all of Virginia; his cat, Toby; special friends, Pat and Dave Vaughn of Greenville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the American Legion Hall, Greenville, with burial in the Greenville Cemetery.
