CUTLER – Clarence M. Randall, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 29, 2003, spending his last days at home. He was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Cutler, the son of Orlando and Jennie (Ward) Randall. He has been a faithful member of the Head of the River Baptist Church for many years. He and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed their annual trip to Camp Living Waters in their camper and attending evening services at local churches. He worked as manager of Woodlands for Pejepscot Paper Division, a division of the Hearst Corp., for 33 years until his retirement in 1975. He was active in civic and educational organizations and served on many boards. He graduated from Washington Academy and always took great pride in serving as a long-term member and secretary of the board of trustees. He attended Washington State Teachers College in Machias. He served on the board of selectmen and school board in Cutler, and was active in the town meetings. He was appointed by the trustees as a corporator at Machias Savings Bank for 30 years. He will be remembered for his honorableness in business, his thoughtfulness, generosity and witty sense of humor. His knowledge of local and family history was amazing. He instilled a fine, honest example of values and his love of this land and seacoast into his children and grandchildren. Camping, duck hunting and the many trips to Wesley with his friends he enjoyed. Politics and sports, especially Washington Academy athletics, he also enjoyed. Until recently he was active with harvesting his blueberry crop. He could be seen planting and tending his gardens and working on his woodlands with his wife, Shirley. Going to the marsh was a favorite pastime. He loved lobster fishing and being on the water. Now God has taken him to be with his wife and family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley Wilcox Randall. He will be remembered and deeply loved by his five daughters, Carolyn Kelley of Wiscasset, Charlotte Wright and Bonita Dorr, both of Delray Beach, Fla., Sarah Dill and husband, Keith, of Holden, and Lois Holmes and husband, Danual, of Cutler; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Mahlon, Benson and Alvah; and two sisters, Adrith Ashley and Angeline Sinclair. His extended family was very close to him. Special thanks for the prayers and support of his beloved church family and Pastor Scott Porter, and many friends with whom he enjoyed the cards, phone calls and visits to his home before his illness. At his request there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations in his memory to the Head of the River Baptist Church, in care of Susan Crossman, Cutler, ME 04626, or to the church of your choice. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the New Cutler Cemetery with Pastor Scott Porter officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
