CASTINE – Clark Battle Fitz-Gerald, 87, accomplished sculptor and World War II veteran, passed away at his home in Castine Oct. 18, 2004. He was born June 18, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Charles A. and Mary Elizabeth (Tippens) Fitz-Gerald. He is survived by his children, Timothy Fitz-Gerald and Stephen Fitz-Gerald; his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth “Liddy” Fitz-Gerald; her children, Susan Clark Ring, David Holmes Clark and Jeffrey Battle Clark. An Open Studio Gathering will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at 6 Dyce’s Head Road, Castine. Memorial donations in Clark’s name may be made to the College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, ME 04609, for the use of student travel expenses to conferences.
