EAST MILLINOCKET – Claude Deschene, 88, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. He was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of John and Anna (Page) Deschene. Claude retired from Great Northern Paper Company in 1981. After his retirement, he and his wife spent time traveling to Arizona, the West Coast, and British Columbia to spend time with relatives. Claude enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, sons-in-law, and friends. He and his wife spent many summers fishing at Nesowadnehunk Lake and with their friends, barbecuing and sitting by the campfire. Claude is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Winnifred (Levesque) Deschene; seven children and their spouses, Claudette and Dennis Green of Brownville, Verna and Jim Ferland of Sydney, Velma and Bill Appleby of Millinocket, Linda Cyr and companion, Rick Ambrose, of Glenburn, Camille and Nancy Deschene of East Millinocket, Donald and Pati Deschene of Medway, and Burt and Arlene Deschene of Lee; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Wilson of Presque Isle, Lillian Gifford of St. John, N.B.; one brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Esta Deschene of Hampden; two brothers-in-law, Denis Lev-esque of Vancouver, and Leo Levesque of Louisiana; and one sister-in-law, Alexina Deschene of Drummond, N.B. Claude was predeceased by a brother, Edmund Deschene; and a brother-in-law, Bert Levesque. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Millinocket.
