WASHBURN – Claude Conrad Guerrette, 84, died Monday, July 28, 2008, at home after a long illness. He was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Madawaska, the son of Irene and Josephine (Dufour) Guerrette. Claude attended Madawaska school systems until he was drafted into the Army Air Force and served in World War II. During his service he served in Europe and also in the Philippines as an Army medic. He worked many years at Presque Isle and Loring Air Forces Bases as a carpenter and retired from the civil service. After retiring, he worked in Crouseville and Washburn, helping those that wanted his skills. Claude was a loving and caring husband and father, raising his family and enjoying the many years with his bride of 61 years. Their family has grown to love many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Adrian, Norman and George Guerrette; and two sisters, Leontine Pinette and Rita Lavoie. He is survived by his wife, Cecile (Albert) Guerrette, three sons and three daughters; a son, David Guerrette and his friend, Catherine Chapman and his son, Ryan Guerrette and wife, Renee, and their children, Chase and Neve; a daughter, Helen Merriam and her husband, Rodney, and their daughters, Laura Merriam and her friend, Henry Beaulier, and her sons, Jeremy and Taylor Miller and Gayle Martin and husband, Colby, and their daughters, Haley and Shawna; a daughter, Martha Tarr and her husband, Randy, and her daughter, Melanie Cullins and husband, Dickie, and their children, Cole and Callie; a son, John Guerrette and his wife, Bonnie; a son, Louis Guerrette and his friend, Julie Bray; a daughter, Alice Pelletier and her daughter, Natalie. He is also survived by two brothers, Antoine and Chanel Guerrette; and a sister, Juliet Cyr. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Philip Parent and the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrants.
