VAN BUREN – Claude J. Michaud, 84, died Feb. 10, 2006 at a Caribou hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1921, in St. Agatha, the son of Maxime and Rose (Clavette) Michaud. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries received in battle. Claude was a life member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post 49 of Van Buren and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Van Buren Fire Department for many years. Claude was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and also enjoyed wood crafting. He was self-employed as an automotive mechanic in Keegan for many years. He is survived by his wife, Bella (Viel) Michaud of Van Buren; two daughters, Marilyn Lajoie and her husband, Steve, of Bangor and Judy Butler and her husband, Burt, of Van Buren; one brother, Gilman Michaud and his wife, Valerie, of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Irma St. Thomas and her husband, Arthur, of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., and Irene Blouin and her husband, Robert, of Kissimmee, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jody Butler, Amy Butler and Scott Lajoie; two great-grandsons, Dillon Butler and Jack Lajoie. He was predeceased by one sister, Rachel Parent; and by one brother, Wallace Michaud. As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
