HODGDON – Claude W. Benson went home to be with his Lord Jan. 2, 2006, at his home in Hodgdon. He was born Jan. 27, 1919, in East Hodgdon, the son of the late Alvin and Jennie (Duff) Benson. Claude was engaged in farming in Hodgdon until 1965. He then worked in the maintenance department at Ricker College for 12 years. He then went to work as head of the maintenance department at the Houlton Residential Center. He retired in 1985. He was a member of the Hodgdon Baptist Church for more than 50 years. During that time he served as deacon and trustee. He was active in Gideon International for many years – right up until the time of his death. Claude is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred (Corey) Benson of Hodgdon; and a daughter, Sandra (Benson) Wadsworth and her husband, Bill, of Wallingford, Conn.; four grandchildren, Kathy Kmietek of Middletown, Conn., Kimberly Ruidiaz of Naples, Fla., Beth Crew of White Lake, Mich. and Bill Wadsworth Jr. of West Hartford, Conn.; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Laura Pray of Houlton; and his twin brother, Clayton Benson of Rockland. He was predeceased by two sisters, Blanche McQuarrie and Verna Bubar; two brothers, George and Maurice Benson. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton and 1-2 p.m. Thursday, at the Hodgdon Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev.
