VAN BUREN and MADAWASKA – Claudette L. Martin, 50, died May 31, 2006, at a Presque Isle hospital after a long illness. She was born Jan. 20, 1956, in Edmundston, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Levi and Lorraine (Sirois) Leonard. She was a 1975 graduate of Madawaska High School. Claudette was employed at H&R Cedar Mill and most recently at Borderview Rehab and Living Center in Van Buren. She is survived by one son, Shawn Martin of Hudson; one daughter, Melissa Martin of Van Buren; four brothers, Richard Leonard of Van Buren, James Leonard of Collierville, Tenn., Conrad Leonard of Madawaska and Ralph Leonard of Plainville, Conn.; two sisters, Joan Francoeur of Baker Brook, N.B., Canada and Joyce Levesque of St. Basile, N.B., Canada; two grandchildren, Tyler Martin and Kayla Martin; several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her special friend and companion of many years, Larry Thibodeau of Van Buren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased a sister, Carlene Leonard. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Interment will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Madawaska.
