WINTER HARBOR – Constance B. Mackay, 84, died Nov. 23, 2003, at a South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, Fla. She was born March 2, 1919, in Winter Harbor, the daughter of Bertrand T. and Lela M. (Atwater) Bickford. Constance was married to Hugh P. Mackay on July 6, 1941. She was a member of the following organizations, The Order of the Eastern Star, Ruby Chapter No. 31 and the Acadian Community Women’s Club, both of Winter Harbor, a charter member of the Eleanor Widener-Dixon Clinic Committee of Gouldsboro and a weekly volunteer. She was also a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church of Ellsworth. She was a volunteer at the Winter Harbor Grammar School Library. She is survived by her husband, Hugh P. Mackay; one son, Joseph B. Mackay and partner, Alan Parks; four daughters, Johanna Smith and Sandra Drinkwater and husband, Peter, all of Winter Harbor, Mary Niforos and husband, Zachary, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Susan Luther, of Highland Falls, New York; six grandchildren, Patricia A. Chavtur, Sarah E. Drinkwater, Thomas P. Hill, Alison G. Drinkwater, Adam J. Drinkwater and John Caleb Luther and two great-grandchildren, Charles M. Chavtur III and Christopher R. Chavtur. She was predeceased by two sons-in-law, Peter R. Smith and Col. John J. Luther Jr. A celebration of Constance’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 175 Downeast Highway, Ellsworth. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Winter Harbor.
