BREWER – Constance “Connie” Elizabeth Burke, 54, passed away May 30, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She had been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Connie was born Feb. 6, 1953, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Irene A. (Cyr) Burke and the late Dr. John E. Burke Sr. Connie grew up in Bangor, graduated from John Baptist High School after which she received an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Bangor Community College in 1984. Connie was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Brewer for more than 30 years. For most of Connie’s life, she worked in home health care. The unwavering compassion she possessed was a gift to all who knew her. Connie is survived by her mother, Irene Burke of Bangor; sisters, Aimee Walls and Robert of Bar Harbor, Mary Jane Perry and Glenn of Falmouth; brother, Matthew Burke and Mary of Birdsborough, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Susan Burke of East Holden; nieces, Evelyn, Gwendolyn, Marian, Faye, Jacqueline and Jill; and nephews, Eoin, Brendan, John and Joseph; as well as nieces, Lacey Burke and her mother, Rose Nelson. She was predeceased by her father, John Sr.; her sister, Patricia; and brothers, John Jr. and Martin. A special thank you to Harold and Hilda Swan, who treated Connie like a daughter, and all the members of Calvary Baptist Church, especially Beth McCann and Carol Chambers. The family thanks the staff at St. Joseph Hospital for the care she received during her time there. Connie was considerate, compassionate and kind to all people right until the end. Connie will be dearly missed by her mother and siblings. She will always remain in our hearts. Relatives and friends may call 4-6 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 61 State St., Brewer, with the Rev. Roger Davis, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held after at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. There will be a reception and continued time of fellowship after the interment at Calvary Baptist Church.
