BRUNSWICK- Corrine Cyr St-Jean, 89, formerly of McKeen Street, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at the Freeport Nursing Center after a long illness. She was born March 14, 1917, in Keegan, the daughter of Alexis and Genevieve Paradis Cyr. She attended local schools there and graduated from Van Buren High School. She continued her education at Fort Kent Normal School and received her Bachelors of Art in teaching from the Presque Isle State Teachers College. On June 21, 1941, she married Mathiu Lucien St-Jean in Keegan. They continued to make their home in the Keegan area where Corrine taught first and second grade in the Van Buren schools for more than 30 years; where she was very proud of the many students, which she had prepared to receive their first communion. In 1971, Corrine and Lucien moved to southern Maine and then to Brunswick in 1981. Corrine worked very hard her entire life, being very proud of the fact that she was able to put her three children through college. In her spare time she loved to crotchet, making many afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, watching basketball games, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She and Lucien loved driving and would often travel to Bar Harbor or the White Mountains especially during leaf season; they also wintered in Lakeworth, Fla., for 17 years. Corrine was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband Oct. 3, 2002; two brothers, Adrian and Philip Cyr; and two sisters, Anita Violette and Germaine Dube. She is survived by two daughters, Paulette and her husband, Galen Violette, of Brunswick and Denise St-Jean and her husband, Daniel, of Rockland, Ontario; one son, Peter James St-Jean of Georgetown; six granddaughters, Stephanie St-Jean of Houston, Cathi Patrie of Westbrook, Mireille St-Jean of Ottawa, Ontario, Lynn Cotta of Scarborough, Renee St-Jean of Ottawa, Ontario and Alexis St-Jean of Welland, Ontario; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 9, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Brunswick. Burial was held after at St. John’s Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in Corinne’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
