PRESQUE ISLE – Corris Carlson Coffin, wife of the late Robert Coffin, died at a Mars Hill healthcare facility Oct. 10, 2005. She was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Caribou, to Eva Snowman Carlson and Carl Hjalmer Carlson. She attended the one-room Colby School House and Caribou High School, Class of 1948. She graduated from Barrington College, New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and Northeastern University Graduate School of Education. While in Boston she worked at the New England Baptist Hospital and taught at the School of Nursing. She also taught at the New England Deaconess School of Nursing. She was a member of Park Street Church and served there teaching children. In July 1979, she married Robert Coffin and lived in Ashland until his illness caused them to move to Presque Isle in the summer of 1998. After her husband’s death, she joined R.S.V.P. and volunteered at ACAP Daycare Center at Gouldville. She also was a Hospice Volunteer and volunteered at TAMC. Corris was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and Pioneer Girls. She served on the Board of Christian Education. Surviving her are stepdaughters, Patricia Gallagher and Jane Morrison and several cousins. An hour of visitation will be held 1 p.m. Thursday followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 24 Second St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. James Ackerson officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Municipal Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 24 Second St., Presque Isle, ME 04769 or Central Aroostook Humane Society, P.O.
