CRETE (LAMBERT) GENTLE HOULTON – Crete (Lambert) Gentle, 83, died Oct. 29, 2003, at Houlton. She was born May 17, 1920, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Milton Sr. and Mildred (Allen) Lambert. She graduated Houlton High School in 1937 and married Oren Gentle in 1940, a local potato farmer. She was a former member of O.E.S., Houlton Grange and was a member of the Houlton Congregational Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the American Kennel Club. She is survived by one daughter, Laurella Mae and her husband, David Smith, of Houlton; seven grandchildren, Ricky and Peggy Gentle, Herbert Terri, Caroline and Randy Hirst, Heather and Todd Dixon, Karen and Mark King, Jeff Gentle, Donna Donahue; several great-grandchildren; six brothers, Keith Lambert of Fort Kent, Milton Lambert Jr. of Houlton, Don Lambert of Farmingdale, Neil Lambert of Augusta, Bryce Lambert of Brunswick , Duane Lambert of Houlton; two sisters, Joyce Saunders of Houlton, Jean Jackins of Topsham; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oren; and one son, Herbert A. Friends may call 12-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Dale Holden and Marcel Daigle officiating.
