SANDOWN, N.H – Mr. D. Ronald Cutliffe, 71, died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Melbourne, Fla., after a short illness. He was the husband of Ann M. (Lawrenson) Cutliffe to whom he was married for 21 years. He was born in Old Town and lived there much of his life before moving to Sandown many years ago. He was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1950, where he was a four- sport athlete, and received his bachelors’ degree from the University of Maine in 1957. At Maine he served as captain of the freshman football team. He also attended the Boston University School of Law. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Major. He was employed as an airline pilot for Delta Airlines, stationed out of Boston. He was a member of the Viera Country Club in Melbourne, Fla., the Delta Airline Pilots Association, the Sandown Lions Club, the Fraternal Order of Masons, the National Rifle Association and the U.S. Golf Association. He served as a member of the Timberlane High School Board and also as a member of the New Hampshire State Legislature. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Lawrence R. Cutliffe of Bedford, N.H.; two stepsons, Edward L. Reilly of Rock Ledge, Fla., James J. Reilly of Cocoa, Fla.; three daughters, Carole E. Gilley of Waterville, Cynthia M. Ripley of Oakland, Linda B. Goddu of Salem, N.H.; one brother, John N. Cutliffe of Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one stepson, Brian V. Reilly. His funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Rt. 121A, Plaistow, NH. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Sandown.
