HARRINGTON – Dale L. Carver, 67, died June 1, 2007, at his home after a long and cour-ageous battle with cancer. He was born March 1, 1940, in Jonesport, the son of the late Glen L. and Vinalene (Syston) Carver. Mr. Carver attended and graduated from Jonesport High School with the Class of 1958. In 1960, Dale enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Roan for four years and was honorably discharged in 1964, with rank of signalman. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he went to work for the former St. Regis Paper, Champion Paper Co., now known as International Paper, Wesley, for 29 years, as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1998. Mr. Carver enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking his daily rides in his truck. He was the gentlest man in Washington County. He shared 24 years of marriage with Nancy (Sullivan) Carver of Harrington. In addition to his wife, family members include his sons, Glen Carver and wife, Bobbie-Jo, of Pembroke, Wade Carver of Pembroke, Scott Wright and significant other, Terry Chase, of Harrington, Laurie Merchant and significant other, Mark Hansen, of Harrington and John Collora Jr. and wife, Sara, of Columbia; grandchildren, Rico, Connie, Christina, Scott, Noelle, Josh, Jeremy, Jessie, Kayla, Lindsey and Nicholas; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Rico Carver in 1991; two sisters, Frances Carver in 2007 and Connie Faulkner in 1986; and by his four footed canine companion, Candy. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington, officiated by Pastor George Woodward.
