MILLINOCKET – Darrell Morrow Sr., 77, died Dec. 11, 2004. He was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Millinocket, the 15th of a family of 16, born to Henry and Victoria (LeBlond) Morrow. Darrell attended Stearns High School, Class of “46”, and enlisted and sworn into the Navy on his 17th birthday in 1944. He served in World War II in Asiatic/Pacific aboard the heavy cruiser, USS Columbus. After he was discharged he worked at Great Northern Paper Co. steam plant for 33 years, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of St. Martins’ Catholic Church and a member of the VFW, Francis E. Elliot Post No. 4154. He married his school day sweetheart, Beverly (Martell) in 1947, and raised six wonderful children. Darrell’s greatest pride was the love and support he received from them, especially during his many stays in the hospital and convalescing home. He and his family enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. In later years he cherished the love for and from his 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. With their travel trailer, Darrell and his wife enjoyed many music festivals in Maine, especially the Bluegrass festivals. In addition to his wife of Millinocket, he is survived by six children, Rodney and his wife, Ruth Morrow of Millinocket and their son, Chris and his wife, Lynn and their children Taylor and Colin, and son, Jason, Paul and his wife, Peggy Morrow, of Medway and their daughters, Melanie and husband, Robbie Rhodes and their daughter, Autumn, and daughter, Elizabeth, Darrell Jr. and his wife, Susan Morrow, of Gorham and their children, Jeffery, Jonathan, and Sarah, Brian and his wife, Rhonda, of Millinocket, and their daughters, Gretchen, Brianne, and Emily, Sally and her husband, David Bartlett, of Crouseville and their children, Anna and Abrahm, and Mark Morrow of Portland and his children, Whitney and Barry; two sisters, Mildred Hobbs of Kittery and Audrey Balbi of Hempstead, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Victoria (Morrow) McCarthy of Milbridge. He was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket with Father Richard Malo officiating.
