SWANVILLE – David A. Dunton, 63, passed away Aug. 13, 2007 at his home. He was born Feb. 15, 1944, in Dixmont, son of the late Wilbur Lewis Dunton and Alma Jean Vinson Dunton. He was a U.S. Naval Reserve veteran, who was employed in the construction trade. For the last 11 years he was self-employed. He was a hard worker who enjoyed his business and felt fulfilled. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. Dave especially liked his short vacations with his loving wife, as well as boating and fishing on Swan Lake. His wonderful and usually irreverent sense of humor was present until the end and was a source of comfort for his caregivers and himself. He was predeceased by his father, Wilbur Dunton; two sisters, Wilma Tilton and Marie Condon; a brother, Stuart Dunton at age 3; and an infant son, Paul David. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Joyce (Fletcher) Dunton of Swanville; children, Douglas Dunton of Rockland, Jeanne Dukes and husband, Donald, of Georgia, Margaret Wells and husband, Tom, of Belfast, Patricia Dunton of Plymouth, Gaye Erskine and husband, Richard, of Solon, Gerald Bickmore of Winterport and Catherine Carter and husband, Ronald, of Jackson; his mother, Alma Dunton of Dixmont; his siblings, Jane Patterson of Brewer, Dorothy Laurie of New Hampshire and G. Michael Dunton and wife, Valerie, of Spartanburg, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; a special nephew, Larry Tilton and wife, Suzanne; and special friend, Don John-ston, who shared many laughs. Friends who wish are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be after at Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont.
