BUCKSPORT – David F. Witham, 58, died Feb. 15, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1950, in Castine, to Frederick and Doris (Cunningham) Witham. Educated in Bucksport, he graduated from Bucksport High School in 1969. In 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Candice (Bemis) Witham. For David, family was the most important thing. He enjoyed many hours spending time with his children and grandchildren fishing, swimming and enjoying nature. David also had a passion for classic cars, which he rebuilt, raced and took to car shows. David worked for and retired from Verso Paper Co., after more than 20 years of service. David is survived by his wife, Candy; his daughter, Heidi M. Chandler and her husband, Mark, of North Berwick; his son, David A. Witham and his fianc?e, Christina Levesque, of Bucksport; grand-children, Ethan and Evan Chandler, Logan Witham, Chandler, Ethan and Zachary Levesque. David is also survived by his sister, Roxanne Parker and her husband, Randy, of Bucksport; as well as many family and friends. David was predeceased by his parents. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Feb. 20 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick as officiant. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in David’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. He was taken too soon and will be missed by all who knew him.
