DAVID HYDE BANGOR – David Hyde, 52, passed away Thursday morning Dec. 13, 2007, surrounded by his friends and family at his home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. David was born Aug. 13, 1955, in the state of New York. His mother raised him and his six sisters until they moved to Maine in the 1960s. David took great pride in many things. He loved to walk around his neighborhood talking with people, and collecting bottles and cans. This passion led him to working for years at Big Red Redemption Center, Bangor. He also loved to go visit his mother, even in her declining health, until she passed away last Christmas. Spending time with his special friend, Rick Flood, between Bangor and Belfast; finding the best fishing holes was something that David spoke fondly of, even until his final days with us. Another memory he spoke of often was traveling with his other special friend, Mimi Birmingham, to his mother’s grave this past fall and all the fun he had on the trip, which included dancing, going to a pumpkin patch, leaf peeping and Mount Katahdin. Those close to David would describe him as being kind, gentle, wise, funny, friendly, unselfish and as having a huge heart. The love and care that he was given by his family at OHI was also very important to him. David was predeceased by his mother, Donna Hyde, in 2006. He is survived by his sisters, Joanne Brown of Mapleton, Ruth McGown of Hancock, Starr Hyde of Veazie, Cindy Blankenship of San Diego, June Mozcyniewicz of Cameron, N.Y., and Stephanie Blake of Peru, Ind.; and by his longtime friend, Mark. Those wishing to join us in a celebration of life for David may do so 4-6 p.m. Friday at 240 Twin City Plaza, Brewer. Cremation arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer.
