ORRINGTON and ORLAND – Dean Braley died Dec. 6, 2007, at his daughter’s home in the extremely caring community of Lancaster, N.H. He lost the war against cancer after four courageous battles. He was born Oct. 23, 1934, in Old Town, the son of Edward and Carolyn (Geurin) Braley. He grew up in Old Town and Bangor and finally settled in Orrington in 1969, with his wife and family. Dean worked for many years as a pipe fitter, traveling the state of Maine and at times the country. In 1985, he became the business agent for Local 321, Brewer. He also served for a time with the U.S. Army. Dean loved to hunt, fish, and entertain family and friends with his guitar and harmonica. He was always one for a good joke. Dean was a craftsman of many arts, loved nature, puzzles and card games. He fulfilled his retirement dream, relaxing at camp on Rocky Pond, Orland, in 1990. Dean leaves a son, Dean Braley and his wife, Shirley, of Orland; daughter, Brenda and her husband, Charles Robicheau, of Bucksport; daughter, Theresa Cabral and her fiance, Jon Chapman, of Dedham; daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Glenn Adams, of Lancaster, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Michael and wife, Jenny Robicheau, of Bangor, Joe Robicheau of Bucksport, Tyler Cabral of Dedham, Daniel, Andrew and Nick Ireland of Lancaster, N.H., Alisa Bragg of Amherst and Tricia Smith of Brewer; six wonderful great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Ashley, Jared, Jacob and newborn, Jaxson Dean; two sisters, Rose Danforth and her husband, Doug, and Bette Jamison, all of Brewer; one brother, James Braley and his wife, Becca, of Baileyville; many nieces and nephews. Dean was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth; a son, Greg; daughter, Susan; three sisters, Jane Tedesco, Brenda Gray and Calie Eacman; and two brothers, Timothy and Leslie Braley. Dean’s family has been at complete awe for the kindness and support given from all in the Lancaster, N.H., community. Thank you all so very much. Visiting hours for both Dean and Elizabeth will be held 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, with a memorial service directly after at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. Burial will be held in the spring at Pine Hill Cemetery, Orrington, and will be announced at a later date.
