MONTICELLO – Della P. Mills, 83, wife of the late Spencer “Penny” Mills, died May 14, 2004, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 17, 1920, at Monticello, the daughter of Jesse and Beulah (White) Swimm. Della was a lifelong nurse working first at the Madigan Hospital and then Houlton Regional Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, reading and just riding around the countryside, but her greatest Love was her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Dwight and his wife, Linda, of Monticello, Conrad and his wife, Louann, of Crossville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; five brothers, Garth Swimm and his wife, Carol, Glen Swimm and his wife, Judy, Paul Swimm and his wife, Sue, Bob Swimm and his wife, Judy, Dale Swimm and his wife, Pam; four sisters, Doris Foster, Autis Socoby and her husband, Russell, Jeanette Swallow, Ruth Swimm; three sisters-in-law, Carol Swimm, Hazel Swimm and Barbara Swimm; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Spencer (Penny) Mills; a son, Dathan; five brothers, Lawrence, Lee, Fred, Vaughn and Bernard; two sisters, Rita Rafford and Lorraine Wilson. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon Monday at the Dunn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery, Monticello.
