OCALA, Fla. – Diane (Blanchard) MacNaughton, 53, died Aug. 2, 2006, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 10, 1953, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of the late Maynard and Muriel (Bagley) Blanchard. She graduated from Mount Desert Island High School in 1971, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She met Rick MacNaughton while she was employed at F.T. Brown in Northeast Harbor. They married in 1989 and moved to Bangor. While living in Bangor, she worked in the office at Bangor Millwork. Diane and Rick relocated to Ocala, Fla. in 2001. For the past five years she worked as an administrative assistant at Homeowners for Justice, a small claims firm. Diane enjoyed camping, skiing, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially her granddaughter, Makayla. She was passionate in her support of breast cancer research and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in both Maine and Florida. Diane is survived by her husband, Rick of Ocala, Fla.; her children, Jennifer and Bradley Gray of Northeast Harbor; her stepson, Ryan MacNaughton and his wife, Monica and their daughter, Makayla, of Clermont, Fla.; her sister, Rosemary Brady and her husband, John, of Jacksonville, Ill.; four brothers, Bill of Northeast Harbor, Dennis and his wife, Pauline, Terry and David and his wife, Meg, all of Mount Desert; many nieces, nephews, and good friends. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Neighborhood House, Northeast Harbor. Those who desire may make contributions in Diane’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or your local Hospice organization.
