FARMINGTON – Diane Marie Campbell LaPointe, 54 of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Farmington Falls, and Portland, died April 12, 2004, peacefully at her home, with her family at her side after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born April 16, 1949, in Farmington, the daughter of Hugh J. Sr. and Eva (Bonney) Campbell. She attended Farmington schools and graduated from Farmington High School, Class of 1967. She attended S.M.V.T.I. in South Portland, graduating with a degree in business management. Diane managed several different stores in Virginia, and Panama City, Fla., up to her retirement in 2003. She is survived by her husband, John LaPointe of Panama City, Fla.; her mother, Eva Bonney Campbell of Farmington Falls; one daughter, Melissa and husband, Bert Johnson, of Auburn; one son, Michael Grant of Panama City, Fla.; two grandchildren, Mercedes and Vanessa Johnson of Auburn; five sisters, Sister Janet Campbell of Portland, Helen and husband, Richard Gervais, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Pamela and husband, William Berry, of Cousins Island, Yarmouth, Susan and husband, James Daigle, of Lee, Mary and husband, Larry Melcher, of Jay; two brothers, Dr. Hugh J. Campbell Jr. and wife, Jane, of Elkton, Md., Michael Campbell Sr. and wife, Susan, of Bangor; a sister-in-law and dearest friend, Andy Murray; an aunt, Eleanor Campbell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Hugh J. Campbell Sr.; and one sister, Teresa A. Campbell. Interment will take place at a later date with private graveside ceremony. Arrangements under the direction of Western Mountains Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
