BELFAST – Dianne O. Armstrong went home to be with the Lord Oct. 22, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 10, 1935, in Belfast, the daughter of Lawrence “Clyde” and Verna (Sanborn) Hamilton. Dianne attended Crosby High School Class of 1953. She owned and operated “The Snack Bar” in the early 60’s, was a dynamic domestic engineer, was a top Avon sales representative for years, was a den mother for Cub Scouts, saw that all seven of her children were active in Sunday school, sports and Christian summer camps and on the side was bookkeeper for the family business until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling on a women’s league and most of all loved family get togethers. She was a member of First Baptist Church for years and was currently a member of Little River Baptist Church. She loved playing the piano at LRBC until her illness progressed. She was always an encouragement to anyone she met, loved unconditionally and touched many lives. She went on a mission trip to Russia in the fall of 2001, which she enjoyed tremendously. It was a goal that blessed her and many in Russia. A dream to visit Paris was accomplished on her return trip home. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Cecil Jr.; four sons, Ralph “Reb” Brown and his wife, Debbie, of WeekiWachee, Fla., Glenn Brown and his wife, Marilyn, of Benton, Michael Brown of Manchester, N.H., and Mitchell Brown and his wife, Betty Lu, of Belfast; two daughters, Tina Bowden and her husband, Richard, of Waldo, and Cheryl Peckham of Belfast; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by both parents; two daughters, Carla Lynn Brown and Dawn Lauree Brown Allenwood; and one great-grandson, Zachary Brown. Friends may gather 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Little River Baptist Church, Belfast. Those wishing to make memorial donations may do so to the Little River Baptist Church.
