BANGOR – Donald Arthur Plourde, 77, died at a Bangor health facility July 20, 2006, after a period of ill health. He was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Veazie, the son of Frank A. and Bisbee Merri (Burgoyne) Plourde. He graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1946, and Husson College, Class of 1948. He attended a vocational college in Massachusetts for a couple of years studying electronics. He was called to active duty with the 101st Fighter-Interceptor Wing of the Maine Air National Guard during the Korean War and served time in Japan. He lived his formative years in Veazie and later moved to East Corinth. He lived the last 40 years in Bangor. Don was a quiet, kind and reserved gentleman. He is survived by one niece, Suzanne E. Plourde of Windham; three nephews, Michael W. Plourde of Dayton, Ohio, Bruce A. Plourde of Holiday, Fla. and Daniel R. Plourde of New Port Richey, Fla; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn (Griffin) Plourde of Old Town; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, James David and Gerald “Jake” D. Plourde. He will be interred in a private family service at the Corinthian Cemetery in East Corinth at a later date. Those who wish may donate in his memory to a charity of their choice.
