OAKLAND – Donald “Donnie” E. Small, 58, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, after losing his battle to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, at his home. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Donnie was an avid member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a master electrician; working at Great Northern Paper for 21 years and then moving to Sappi to work for another 17 years. He enjoyed running, biking and camping, among various other outdoor activities. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 37 years, Vicki Small; children, Debra Kelley of Bluffton, S.C., Gregory Lyons of East Millinocket and fiance, Rhonda Deschane, of Brewer, and Scott Dunton of Oakland; four grandchildren, Angela Smith and husband, Trent, of South Portland, Bryan Lyons of Rexburg, Idaho, Matthew Lyons of Florida, and Christopher Scott of Savannah, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Travin and Cassidy Smith; one sister, Pam Vacanti of California; and a favorite Aunt Evelyn Levesque of East Millinocket. Also, among Donnie’s survivors are many more friends and loved ones, including a loving pet and companion, Candi. A visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 26, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Washington Avenue, Waterville. Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Mount Hope Cemetery, State Street, Bangor.
