DADE CITY, Fla. – Donald Herbert Perrin Sr., 87, of Dade City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City, Fla. He was born Jan. 27, 1916, in Sherman Mills, and retired after 20 years of service from SACS as a Busdriver. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1934, and the University of Maine in 1939. He was employed by the University of Maine and the Research Seed Program at Orono and Presque Isle. In 1941, he was instrumental in establishing the research program in Homestead, Fla. He farmed in Sherman for 39 years, and was a 60-year member of the Island Falls Masonic Lodge. Above all, he enjoyed his family and friends. He enjoyed his time at the camp at Mattawamkeag Lake, fishing, golfing and gardening. He was also an accomplished pianist. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Perrin of Dade City, Fla. and Island Falls; six children, Judy and Harold Milson of Dundee, Fla., Don and Sandra Perrin Jr. of Dade City, Fla., and Island Falls, Margaret and Steven Gadreau of LaGrange, Virginia Thomas of Vero Beach, Fla., Victoria Perrin of Veazie, Stephen Perrin of Houlton; one sister, Shirley Merrill of Patten; one brother, Carl Perrin of Sherman; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at Hodges Family Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the funeral home.
