DONALD L. GARNETT SR. BEALS – Donald “Donnie” L. Garnett Sr., 65, passed away June 25, 2004, at Down East Community Hos-pital after an extended illness. He was born April 21, 1939, at Portland, the son of the late Woodrow W. and Roberta A. (Hughes) Garnett. While growing up, Donnie attended schools in Portland. He served in the Army National Guard receiving an Honorable Discharge in August 1956. Donnie lived most of his working life on beloved Beals Island, fishing and working until a decline in his health would no longer allow him to do the things he enjoyed and loved. He loved fishing and boating, especially at the Beals and Jonesport Co-Op Wharf. He had a special place in his heart for all his many nieces and nephews who he referred to as his “yowens.” He was a devoted and faithful husband and father to his wife, Mildred (Hatt) Garnett; children, Donald Garnett Jr., Donald Eric Garnett, Roberta Florence Garnett and companion, Lebaron Libby Jr., and LeeAnn Hazelton and husband, Eugene II. He is also survived by brothers, Kenneth A. Garnett and wife, Terri, of Gorham, Bruce Garnett and wife, Theresa, of Cumberland, David Garnett and wife, Sylvia, of Cumberland, David W. Garnett and wife, Cathy, of Old Town, and Tommy Garnett and fianc?e, Donna, of South Portland; and aunts, Alva “Polly” King and Phyllis Nadeau. He will be sadly missed by best buddy, Bob Pray; special nephew, Nolan Hatt; and special friends, Scott “The Wizard” Chandler, Herman Seavey Jr. and Linden Alley. He was predeceased by brothers, Arthur William Garnett and Vernon Everett Spear Jr. Calling hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Advent Christian Church in Beals. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Advent Christian Church with Pastor George Woodward and Elder George Drisko presiding.
