HAMPDEN- Donald Linwood Kelley, 93, husband of the late, Priscilla (Martin) Kelley, went home to be with his Lord, Jan. 21, 2005, while at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 21, 1911, in Caribou, the son of James and Myrtle (Hamilton) Kelley. Don had lived in Hampden since 1944, and during that time worked as an auto mechanic at Atwood Motors in Bangor, and retired from the Maine Central Railroad as a machinist, after 20 years of service. Don was a true man of God, and a longtime member of Nealley’s Corner Church and a former member of Eastern Star Grange No. 1 of Hampden. He enjoyed music night at the church, camping, fishing, gardening, and he loved his ponies. Don will be remembered for his great sense of humor, and as a wonderful and loving, husband, father, and the very best grandfather anyone ever had. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. Kelley Sr. and Retta of Hampden; two grandsons; Christopher F. Kelley and his wife, Lynn, of Old Town, and Richard D. Kelley Jr. and his wife, Diane, of LaGrange, and his beloved granddaughter, Dawn R. Kelley of Hampden, seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Meaghan, Ryan Christopher, Bradley, Meranda, Makayla and Shayla, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, Bernice Burke of Fla., Viola Harmon of Brewer, and Gene and Wanda Irwin of Tennessee, and all his coffee buddies at the Coffee Break Bakery, that he enjoyed so much. He was predeceased by his wife, Priscilla, on March 10, 1999. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where a funeral service will be held, 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Steve Nute, of Nealley’s Corner Church, officiating. Interment in the springtime will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
