WASHBURN – Donat Rossignol, 76, “Don the Barber,” died March 12, 2004, at Caribou. He was born Oct. 31, 1927, in Van Buren, the son of Romain and Victoria (Sirois) Rossignol. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion. Don was a well-known self-employed barber in the Washburn area for more than 53 years. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Mission in Washburn and was a 3rd Degree member of the Fred V. Brescia Council Knights of Columbus. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Washburn Fire Department for 10 years. He married Bernadette Rossignol on Dec. 27, 1949. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 54 years, Bernadette of Washburn, are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Deborah Rossignol of Saco, and Robert Rossignol of Wells; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Kevin Woodbrey of Raymond; six grandchildren, Kelie, Kristie, Casey, Zachary, Kyle and Eric. Friends may visit with the family 7-9 p.m. Monday at St. Catherine’s Mission, Washburn. A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at St. Catherine’s, with Father Scott Mower officiating. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
