COLUMBIA – Donna “Don” L. Joyce, 75, passed away Sept. 28, 2006, at the Marshall Health Care Facility, Machias, after an extended illness. She was born April 21, 1931, in Milbridge, the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Strout) Burgess. Don was a great gardener and loved her flower gardens. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband. Don will be remembered for her strong work ethic. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bud Joyce of Columbia; children, Wayne Joyce and wife, Libby, of Columbia and Mary Faulkingham and husband, Dana, of Westport Island; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eleanor Mathews, Iona Burke, Maxine Carter, Venelva Ray, Mary Freeman, Roberta Wynegar, Lottie Burgess, Lorna Burgess, Leigh Burgess and Victoria Batson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Don was predeceased by three brothers, Charles Burgess, Keith Burgess and Robert Burgess; and a sister, Nancy Moores. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Mailey Hill Cemetery, Columbia.
