WINTON FALMOUTH and PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Donna Leavitt Furman Winton, at rest on Feb. 9, 2004. She was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Plymouth, the oldest of seven children of Cyril B. and Gladys V. Leavitt. Donna graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield in 1940, and lived in Pittsfield in the early 1960s and again from 1993-2001, when she moved to Falmouth. In addition to her husband of 27 years, Glendon A. Winton, she leaves her children, Ross Y. (Jennifer) Furman of Falmouth, R. Bruce (Mildred) Furman of Lake City, Fla., Joyce (Nehlsen) Lachmund of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Dean (Alison) Furman of Miami, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews; and many friends, especially her dear friend of nearly 60 years, Inie Segin of Eastport. A strong and courageous woman, Donna’s valiant fight with cancer and her spirited determination to live life to its fullest will forever remain an inspiration to family and friends who loved and admired her. Interment services will be held at a later date in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society is preferred by the family.
