ELLSWORTH – Donna W. Wheeler passed away very peacefully March 16, 2007, with family and caregiver present at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Abbot, the daughter of Stanley and Lulu Mae Weymouth. Donna graduated from the University of Maine in 1943 and taught locally for several years. Donna married Paul S. Wheeler of Millinocket, July 24, 1937. They ultimately settled in Houlton, where Paul took a position as civil engineer for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad and Donna taught in the school system for many years. She was active in the Women’s Club and A.A.U.W. Upon retirement they moved to Ellsworth, where they enjoyed warmer winters and the proximity of their camp at Prospect Harbor. She became active in the Lutheran Church and senior citizens.Donna was predeceased by her husband, Paul; brother, Clif-ton; and nephew, Robert. She is survived by two sons, David of Natick, Mass., and James of Machias; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family is in agreement that there will not be a memorial service; rather each person should remember Donna as the gracious lady and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that she was; in their own time and private thoughts. Mother loved to dance and Dad could hardly do the waltz. I know they’re dancing tonight, all is possible in heaven. Interment will be with Paul in Millinocket. In lieu of flowers, people may make contributions to their favorite charity or organization in her memory. Cards may be sent to David Wheeler, 45 High St., Natick, MA 01760-4825.
