PRESQUE ISLE – Doris A. Rose, 83, went home to be with her Lord, Oct. 6, 2004, at the Presque Isle Nursing Home. She was born June 26, 1921, in Stockholm, to Roy and Lula (Wheaton) Bean. Doris attended schools in Stockholm, Washburn and Presque Isle where she graduated. Doris worked at several establishments including New-berry’s, Goan’s Electric and Marston’s. She was married to Milo D. Rose. She and her late husband lived in Spragueville most of their married life. She is survived by her son, Carleton D. Rose of Presque Isle and his friend, Louise Seiders; son-in-law, Richard LaPointe and friend, Brenda Chapman; grandchildren, Beverly and Dwight Clayton, Sandra and Danny Collins, Bryan and Tanya LaPointe, Jody and Shannon Rose, Shelby, Wendy, and Tammy Hensley; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Gooding, Eunice Hemingway, Ellouise and husband, Lee Somers; two sisters-in-law, Eva Bean and Pauline Bean; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Milo; two daughters, Donna LaPointe and Alice Hensley; five brothers, Thurston, Murle, Kenneth, Leslie and Alton Bean; and two sisters, Althea Bean and Melba “Mickey” MacDougal. Doris and her sister, Eunice, helped start the Sunday school in the James School when it was used as a school in Spragueville and she was a 50-plus year member of the Grant Memorial Church of Presque Isle. During that time she taught Sunday school and kept the nursery for many years even into her late 70’s. Doris enjoyed vegetable gardening, picking berries, fiddleheading canning, sewing quilts, knitting and crocheting. She thoroughly enjoyed family get-togethers. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Grant Memorial Methodist Church of Presque Isle with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Blackstone officiating. Friends are welcome to visit 12 noon until the time of service. Following the interment, refreshments will be held at the church. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
