ST. AGATHA – Doris Chamberland, 82, died Feb. 25, 2008, surrounded by her family at a local health care facility after a brief illness. Doris was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Frenchville, daughter of Henry and Marie Dumais. Doris was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and friends will sadly miss her. Doris loved to plan, cook and host large family gatherings. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Doris was an excellent seamstress and created many beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren to treasure. She was especially close to her sister, Therese, who became her companion and confidante. Doris was a model of faith, guidance, determination and courage to her children and grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ann Marie and her husband, Vaughn Martin, of Fort Kent, Angela and her husband, Guy Morneault, of Fort Kent, Henry Chamberland and his wife, Marie, of St. Agatha, Gilda and her husband, Jean Marc Nadeau, of Lac Baker, New Brunswick, Theresa Drew and her fianc?, Lee Richardson, of Belgrade, Brenda and her husband, Ken Woodard, of Arnold, Md., and Gregory Chamberland and his wife, Parise, of Winthrop. She was also “Memere” to 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sisters, Priscille Greenwood of Meriden, Conn., MarieMay McDermott and Therese Dumais of Madawaska; and a brother, Roland Dumais of Simi Valley, Calif. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Jerome Chamberland; a granddaughter, Nicole Woodward; and three brothers, Ronaldo Dumais, Lawrence Dumais and Bertrand Dumais. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, and 9 a.m. Friday until time of service at Michaud’s Funeral Home, St. Agatha. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, St. Agatha with Father Phil Cyr officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation, 33 Silver St., Portland, ME 04101.
