FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. and PITTSFIELD – Doris “Dot” F. (Cianchette) Ashe, 96, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield and Framingham, Mass., died peacefully Feb. 16, 2007. Aunt Dot enjoyed life to the fullest, took every opportunity to travel, and touched the lives of many. She was an independent and fun-loving spirit who loved the Atlantic Ocean, playing cards, racetracks, dancing, her many friends and family. Her favorite numbers were 3 and 5 and she played them every chance she got! She was wife of the late Norris M. Ashe Sr., beloved mother of Roland Frederick of Pompano, Fla., and Norris M. Ashe Jr. and his wife, Katherine, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; cherished, generous and loving Nana of Karen, Lisa and Lorna Ashe; and great-grandmother to Ivy Ashe, Seneca and Texeira Craig and Lucinda Jackson. She is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Arletta “Sue” M. Richards Ashe; and many wonderful and loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, especially niece, Arlene (Frederick) Beardsley, who has been her caregiver and companion for the past several years. Doris, the daughter of Dominic and Concetta Cianchette of Pittsfield, was predeceased by all of her siblings. Burial will take place in late spring at Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Pittsfield.
