YARMOUTH and BANGOR – Doris Fowler Eaton, 88, died Feb. 13, 2006, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Fort Fairfield, to Myra and C. Leslie Fowler. She was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and Farmington Normal School. While at Farmington she met Wendell Eaton and they married Aug. 14, 1941. In 1949, they made Bangor their home. Doris was a teacher, a professional caterer, an accompanist, a gourmet cook and a seamstress. She filled her life with family and friends and was a devoted and comforting correspondent. She was also a supportive participant in Wendell’s career as a Bangor educator. Her church family at First United Methodist meant a great deal to her, as evidenced by her involvement in Piburn Circle, United Methodist Women, and adult Sunday school. Doris shared 63 years with Wendell until his death in March of 2005. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Robert and George Fowler; and her sister, Anna Laura Goodrich. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea and her husband, Ron Winson; daughter, Martha and her husband, Al Spencer; her grandchildren, Robert Winson and his wife, Heather Smith, Matt Winson, Kim Spencer and her fiance, Matt Day, Alyson Spencer and her partner, Rachel Reed; and her great-grandchildren, Max, Wyatt and Jillian Winson. She is also survived by her dear sister, Helen; and brother-in-law, Hal Stevens; brother, Howard; and sister-in-law, Lois; sister-in-law, Dean Fowler; and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at First United Methodist Church, 703 Essex St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Randall C. Chretien, pastor, officiating.
