DOVER-FOXCROFT – Doris Maxine Neal Brown, 97, wife of the late Wendell L. Brown, died Feb. 6, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born Dec. 8, 1907, in Eaton, the daughter of Wallace and Ida (Springer) Neal. She graduated from Danforth High School, attended the University of Maine at Machias, and Bryant and Stratton in Boston. She was employed by the Baskehegan Lumber and Danforth Electric Company before moving to Hodge, La. to work for the Southern Bag and Paper Company. During World War II she was employed by Bath Iron Works. In 1946 she moved to Dover-Foxcroft with her husband. Mrs. Brown was employed by Maynard H. Beal and Company, and then retired from the George E. Howard and Co. after 17 years of employment. She was a charter member of the Dover-Foxcroft Junior Cosmopolitan Club. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her son, Noel; two sisters, Majel (Neal) McGaffey and Lorna (Neal) Gray; and three brothers, Hale Neal, Owen Neal and Leonard Neal. She is survived by a sister-in-law and niece, Marjorie (Neal) Brown of Brewer, and a host of other nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by a special family friend, John Clay Sechrest III of Tallahassee, Fla. Graveside memorial services will be held at the family lot in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, in the spring.
