OLD TOWN – Dorothy B. Priest, 100, passed away June 4, 2007. She was born April 14, 1907, in Old Town, the daughter of Henry and Vivian (Sibley) Shaw. Mrs. Priest spent nearly 34 years as an elementary teacher in Old Town. She was a member of Old Town United Methodist Church, Methodist Women’s Christopher Circle, Star of Hope Rebecca Lodge No. 117, Maine Teachers Association, Old Town Senior Citizens and RSVP, Bangor. She was a very kind, compassionate and loving woman, who loved going out for lunch and watching game shows in the evening with her cup of tea and a cookie. She enjoyed telling stories from her childhood and years as a teacher and had a special place in her heart for all her past students. Mrs. Priest was predeceased by her husband, Roy R. Priest; and two brothers, Linwood and Kenneth Shaw. She will be greatly missed by Laurie, Scott and Zachary Miller who became her “adopted family” and caregivers throughout the last ten years. She taught them a lot about living everyday to the fullest and enjoying everything life has to offer. Also missing her will be Rose Severance, who helped with her care throughout the past year and became a friend in the process. She is also survived by a niece, Sandra Vigue and her husband, Philip, of Nashua, N.H.; a nephew, Robert Shaw and his wife, Mary-Ann, of Skowhegan; several great-nieces and great-nephews. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Blackman Cemetery, Eddington, with the Rev. Ron Chaffee. Arrangements are under the care of Birmingham Funeral Home.
