DOROTHY BLANCHETTE ELLSWORTH – Dorothy Blanchette, 75, died Feb. 13, 2006, at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Dorothy was born July 4, 1930, in Eagle Lake, the daughter of Wilfred and Mabel (Charette) Raymond. After moving to Ellsworth in 1960, with her husband, Leo, and her sons, she began a 40-year in-home seamstress business. It allowed her to be at home raising her children, something which has always been appreciated by them. Later on, her grandchildren were the beneficiaries of the same love and caring. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Leo; their four sons and their wives, Bruce and Gail of Medway, Mass., David and Sandra of Orland, Marc and Diane of Hampden and Keith and Joann of Elgin, Ill. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Marc Blanchette and Jamie Karayianes and their son and Dorothy’s great-grandchild, Brooks, of South Portland. Danielle Blanchette of Medway, Mass., Jason Blanchette of Bangor, Lisa Blanchette of Sullivan, Elizabeth Ross and husband, Jim, Dexter, Peter Blanchette of Medway, Mass., Heather Blanchette of Old Town, Bradley Blanchette of Bangor, Todd Blanchette of Hampden and Zachary and Alexandra Blanchette of Elgin, Ill. In addition, she is also survived by her sisters, Doris Belanger, Mary and Jerry Holbrook and Ann and Richard Buckley all of Brunswick; brothers, Donald and Denise Raymond of Brunswick and Loumous and Rena Raymond of Topsham; in-laws, Eudo Blanchette and Pat Russell, of Connecticut, Albert and Pauline Blanchette of Massachusetts; Adrian and Violet Daigle; Simone Blanchette, Pat Peasley and Lucille Blanchette, all of South Portland and Lucille Raymond of Brunswick. She was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene and Richard; and sister, Kathleen. Friends and family are invited to a prayer service with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, Feb. 17, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, with Fr. Scott Mower officiating.
