GLASSBORO, N.J. – Dorothy D. Heldman, 86, of Glassboro, N.J. passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Manor Care in West Deptford, N.J. She was born in Old Town but was a resident of Glassboro for the last 40 years. Mrs. Heldman was a graduate of Bangor Business School, Bangor. She was past president of the Pitman Woman’s Club, G.L.W.C. International, and a home healthcare provider in the Gloucester County area. She had numerous other jobs including; working for the Pinkerton Agency as a railroad detective in Pennsylvania, fashion model, florist, cosmetologist, and a consumer advocate for the state of Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the St. Bridget’s Altar and Rosary Society. Surviving her is her son, Carl L. Heldman III, and his wife, Johanna, of Glassboro, N.J.; a daughter, Donna Haddock and her husband, Charles, of Trinidad, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Tear of Bangor; two sisters, Ruth Dyer of Old Town and Charlotte Bush-Stevenson of Veazie; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, in St. Bridgets Church, 125 Church St., Glassboro. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, in the Mathis Funeral Home, 43 N. Delsea Drive, Glassboro, N.J. Burial will be in St. Bridgets Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that contributions be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Heartland Hospice, 800 Jessup Rd., West Deptford, N.J., or a charity of your choice.
