OLD TOWN – Dorothy Morrill Smith, 69, died Aug. 29, 2004, at her residence. She was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Ridgefield, Conn., a daughter of John C. and Margaret (Burkhault) Andritter. Dottie was a graduate of Ridgefield High School, Class of 1953, graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in 1955, and returned to further her education at the University of Maine, graduating with high distinction in 1987. Dottie married Kenneth Morrill of Milford, Mass. in 1956 and together they raised three sons. Dottie’s career spanned many decades and many places, but her love for education was paramount. Her fondest memories were of her friends she made in Old Town, her friends and coworkers at the University of Maine, where she had been employed for the last 15 years, and her family. She will be greatly missed by her friends, family, students at UMO and all the people she touched in her life. We will love you always. She is survived by two sons, Westbrook Knight Morrill II and his wife, Chrisann, of Danbury, Conn. and John Christian Morrill and his wife, Susan, of Highpoint, N.C.; five grandchildren, Crystal Nicole Morrill, Jeremy Morrill, Westbrook Knight Morrill III, Samantha Ashley Morrill and Danielle Charlotte Rose Morrill. She was predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth K. Morrill in 1979; and a son, Guy K. Morrill in December 2002. At her request services will be private.
