HERMON – Dorothy Ellen (Drinkwater) Martin, 78, wife of the late Richard L. Martin Sr., passed away peacefully Aug. 4, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 15, 1928, in Bangor, the daughter of Thomas H. Drinkwater Sr. and Nettie B. (Crosby) Drinkwater. Dot loved to sew and do crafts. She was a do-it-yourselfer and was handy at fixing most things. Dot was a stay-at-home mother to her five children, and was famous for her “never fail” no bake cookies. Her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family. Dorothy will be remembered for her generous spirit, and as a truly dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She is survived by her five children, Jean E. Hayward and husband, Arthur, of Hermon, Jane E. St. Louis and husband, Donald Sr., of Hermon, Richard L. “Ricky” Martin Jr. and wife, Terrie, of Carmel, Randy L. Martin of Carmel and Lisa Thomas of Bangor and Darren E. Martin and wife, Sheri, of Glenburn; nine grandchildren, Renee Duell and husband Lance, Donald St. Louis Jr., and wife, Karla, Brent St. Louis and wife, Michelle, David Hayward and wife, Irene, Tammy Smith and husband, Jay, Tony Martin and wife, Laurie, Suzanne Martin, Hillary Keith and Paige Martin; nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Brittany, Brandon, Kobe, Abigail, Samual, Kelsey, Matthew and Anthony “Tony”; brothers and sisters, Greta Reynolds, Alton Drinkwater, Thomas Drinkwater Jr. and Charlotte Martin; nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Penny Nicely. Dot was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Richard L. Martin Sr. Oct. 26, 1996; and by five brothers, Harold, David, Perley, Donald and Leslie Drinkwater; and a sister, Helen Martin. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Paul Sanford, Dot’s nephew, officiating. Interment will be beside her husband in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon.
