DOROTHY ESTHER MAYNARD BANGOR and NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Dorothy Esther Maynard, 89, died May 9, 2004 at Webster at Rye health care facility in Rye, N.H. She was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Bangor, the daughter of John E. and Margaret (Long) Kennedy. Esther was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor, and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Esther was a member of The New Smyrna Beach Hospital Pink Lady’s, New Smyrna Beach Garden Club and the VFW. Esther is survived by a son, John H. Maynard and wife, Jackie, of Mansfield, Mass.; and a daughter, Shelia Maynard Green and husband, Douglas, of Exeter, N.H.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Esther was predeceased by her husband, John H. Maynard, on Sept. 18, 1990. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, at St. John’s Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
