VAN BUREN and WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Dorothy G. Desjardins, 60, died Oct. 18, 2003, at a Van Buren healthcare facility, surrounded by her entire family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bristol, Conn., Oct. 21, 1942, the daughter of Albert and Blanche (Duplessis) Desjardins. She was employed as a printer at The Travelers Insurance Co. in Connecticut for many years. Dot was a quiet, family-oriented person who will be greatly missed. Realizing the gravity of her of her illness, she had relocated nearer to her family in Van Buren just last Wednesday. Enjoying the simpler things in life, she especially liked going to the movies. Dot is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Carol Desjardins and Larry Rossignol, Ann and Russell Bourgoin, all of Van Buren; three brothers and their wives, James and Marie Mai Desjardins, Roland and Sandra Desjardins, John and Nora Desjardins, all of Van Buren; three nieces, Tammy Dumond of Van Buren, Kim Dufour of Lille, and Lisa Roy of Buford, Ga.; one nephew, Shawn Desjardins of Van Buren. She will also be sadly missed by a special friend and roommate of many years, Rena Conling of West Hartford, Conn. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High ST, Van Buren, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Grande Riviere Cemetery.
