SOUTHINGTON, Conn. – Dorothy (Getchell) Hewins, 61, of Southington, Conn., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Connecticut. She was born June 11, 1942, in Patten, the daughter of the late Wesley and Lillian (Foster) Getchell. She graduated from the E.C. Goodwin Technical School in New Britain, Conn. Mrs. Hewins had worked as an LPN doing private duty nursing for 26 years. Prior to her illness, she was employed at the Summit in Plantsville, Conn. She is survived by her husband, Wesley T. Hewins of Southington, Conn.; daughter, Lori Warner and her husband, Cal, of New Hartford, Conn.; brother, Wesley Getchell and wife, Virginia, of Southington, Conn.; sister, Wilda Andle and husband, Robert, of Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Laura Hewins of Southington, Conn.; four grandchildren, Jason, Julie, Joseph and Tracy; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Christian. Dorothy was predeceased by a son, Gary Hewins, who died on Dec. 3, 2003, and a grandson, Calvin Warner. Visitation and a service were held Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home in Southington, Conn. Calling hours will also take place from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Donald Shorey Funeral Chapel in Pittsfield. Burial will take place at a later date in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland.
