BLUE HILL – Dorothy H. Candage, 97, died Aug. 22, 2004, at a Penobscot healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 9, 1906, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Frederick A. and Ethel H. (Tucker) Holden. Dorothy graduated in 1927 from Wheaton College, Norton, Mass. Later she received her Masters in Latin and Greek from Radcliff College, Cambridge, Mass. In 1928, Dorothy started summering in East Blue Hill. She moved here permanently in 1952, when she married Ralph M. Candage. They were married for 27 years until his death in March of 1979. Dorothy had been a member of a number of organizations including the Fisher House Society, the Blue Hill Garden Club, the Blue Hill Historical Society and the Holt House Society. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Roy Candage; and one sister-in-law, Isabelle Candage both of East Blue Hill; four nephews, Darryl Candage and Bruce Candage, of East Blue Hill, Arthur Candage, of Groveland, Mass. and Donald Carter, of Blue Hill Friends are invited to call from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Blue Hill where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Little presiding. Interment will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill. Arrangements in care of Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 141 South St., Blue Hill.
