JONESBORO – Dorothy H. “Dot” Geel, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Dec. 5, 2004, after a brief illness, at a Milbridge healthcare facility, surrounded by her family. She was born May 13, 1930, in Hancock, the daughter of the late Ernest Eugene Hanson and Shirley (Jordan) Hanson. Dorothy was a member of the Jonesboro Union Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting. Dot especially adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She is survived by her children, daughter, Jean Davis and husband, Wayne, of Marshfield; son, John Geel and wife, Carol, of Jonesboro; daughter, Elizabeth “Penny” Bisson and husband, Keith, of Machias; daughter, Andrea Shaffer of Machias; son, Andrew R. Geel and wife, Jamaica, of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Chuck, Cissy, Tammie, Jeanine, Kristina, Michael, Thomas, and Ella; great-grandchildren, Colton, Cayden, Valerie, and Joel; sisters, Maxine Kimball and husband, Leslie, of York, Betty Aull of Florida, and Susan White and husband, “Whitey”, of Berwick; an aunt, Virginia Pennell; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Isabelle Look, Marjorie Betts, and Milton Baker. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Andrew C. Geel, in 1999; a son, Robert Erroll Geel; and three sisters, Jean Nelson, Marion Rounds, and Helen Hanson. A graveside service will be held noon Thursday, December 9, 2004, at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Jonesboro, officiated by the Rev. Bernard Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chandler River Community Center, care of Vince Dowling, P.O. Box 147, Jonesboro, ME 04648. Following the service, friends are invited back to the Chandler River Community Center for a gathering with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias.
