EAST MACHIAS – Dorothy H. Young, 74, loving wife of Norman L. Young, passed away May 10, 2007, with family by her side, at her home. She was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Marion, the daughter of Clarence W. and Jeanette (Rice) Townsend. Dorothy was raised in Marion and Eastport, where she graduated from Shead Memorial High School. She married her childhood sweetheart in 1951 and together they embarked on an exciting life. They lived all throughout the U.S., as well as in the Philippines. Their greatest adventure, however, was raising their four children. She was devoted to her family and raised her family in a very loving home. Dorothy was a member of the bridge club for many years in Eastport, and enjoyed the gardening club as well. She fully believed in and practiced her phrase “Go while you can,” having fun with her sisters. She had a green thumb, being able to grow anything, and in the warmer months could be found outside in her flower and vegetable gardens. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Michael N. Young and his wife, Sally, of Hermon, and Larry L. Young and his wife, Karen, of East Machias; two daughters, Karen Ann Hallowell and her husband, Keith, of Edmunds, and Lois Jean Young of East Machias; as well as 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children; three brothers, Wallace, Arthur, and Joseph; and four sisters, Alice, Pansy, Connie, and Patricia. A private service will be held at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, Eastport. Friends may pay tribute at www.maysfuneralhome.com
