WESTFIELD – Dorothy Irving Allen, 89, wife of the late S. Edwin Allen, who predeceased her Jan. 30, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at a Mars Hill health care facility. She was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Roy and Isabelle (Cameron) Irving. Dot was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Westfield, where she taught Sunday school for more than 47 years. She had been employed as a teacher and later as a sales clerk at Grew’s Clothing Store, Mars Hill. She served on the Board of Directors of S.A.D. No. 1 for several years and had been actively involved with the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry, as an evaluator of their Bible correspondence courses for North-ern Maine for many years. Surviving her are two sons and their wives, Gary E. and Linda Allen of Wilton and Carl H. and Rita Allen of Westfield; a daughter and her husband, J. Gail and David Ruttenberg of Auburn; a brother and his wife, Ralph and Maddie Irving of Washburn; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Joanne Irving of Boca Raton, Fla.; grandchildren, Krayton G. Allen and his wife, Carol, Kelli Felkel and her husband, Daniel, Matthew Ruttenberg, Daniel Ruttenberg and his wife, Krissy, and Sarah Ruttenberg; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Haley, Sarah, James and Jessica, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Tuesday March 27, at Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill, with the Rev. Larry Palmer and Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
